Machinist

PGS Worldwide is seeking a Machinist in Mesa, Arizona for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This onsite 2nd shift position supports precision machining operations in a production environment. The role focuses on setting up and operating CNC lathes and mills, inspecting finished parts, and maintaining quality and safety standards while producing metal components to exact tolerances.

Required Skills

• 5 years of CNC machining experience in a production environment
• Experience setting up and running CNC lathes and mills
• Ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications
• Ability to adjust feeds, speeds, and depth of cut to machine quality parts
• Experience inspecting parts for conformance using gauges, calipers, and micrometers
• Ability to visually inspect parts for burrs or damaged machined surfaces
• Basic computer skills for work instructions and timekeeping
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 35 lbs
• Ability to maintain a clean and orderly work area and follow safety procedures
• U.S. citizenship required

Preferred Skills

• 8–10 years of machining experience on lathes and mills
• Experience applying lean concepts and identifying process improvement opportunities
• Experience maintaining equipment for cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability
• Experience working in a team environment and collaborating on problem solving

What You’ll Do

• Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills
• Machine metal parts, mechanisms, tools, and components to exacting tolerances
• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications to determine setup and machining sequence
• Use machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments to complete work accurately
• De-burr and inspect finished parts using standard inspection equipment
• Measure, mark, and lay out stock for machining as needed
• Support quality verification in accordance with process control requirements
• Maintain a safe, clean workstation and follow company procedures

Work Schedule / Shift

• Monday through Thursday
• 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM - 1:30 AM

Pay

• $40.00/hour
