Position: Machining Crew Leader - 300

Job Summary

The Crew Leader is responsible for the coordination of an operating cell work area and its support services. Assists in the training of employees and the communication between management and employees. Relies on limited experience and judgment to accomplish goals. Little creativity and latitude are expected and work under the direct supervision principle.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the work area is running according to schedule and minimizes downtime.
  • Ensure the work area and equipment are safe and clean.
  • Ensure all employees have received adequate machine‑specific safety training prior to operating equipment.
  • Assist in scheduling production, balancing workloads between teams or work areas, and in reviewing preshift machine inspection sheets and addressing concerns.
  • Review production sheets and communicate with employees.
  • Check material and finished products to ensure quality and that they meet customer specifications.
  • Implement CI principles to improve current processes.
  • Conduct sunrise meetings and monthly safety talks, and provide training to employees.
  • Direct activities consistent with all Company policies, procedures and applicable law.
  • Communicate to employees and other management members as required.
  • Lead employees in continuous improvements and safety initiatives.
  • Participate in the completion of employees' performance evaluation forms.
  • Prepare production reports and maintain records as required.
  • Ensure the work area is in compliance with established safety standards.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 6 months to 1 year of experience in related areas; 1 to 3 years preferred.
  • Working knowledge of production reporting and production scheduling.
  • Basic working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Basic knowledge of lumber math, lumber grades, and species.
  • Preferred understanding of company policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
