Equipment Technician

Where you come in:

Responsible for preventative and reparative maintenance of manufacturing equipment, processes, and electronics located in the Production and R&D Departments. Equipment ranges from standard laboratory equipment to full automation. Prepare and maintain appropriate reports in online equipment files, document databases, and the Equipment Request program, including updating equipment binders, performing Installation Qualifications (IQ), and supporting other FDA and process protocols. Equipment project work is assigned as required to support duplication or improvement of equipment.

Functional

Description:

• Supports engineering activities such as design, test, check‑out, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electro‑mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices, or specialized test equipment.
• Work from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to perform testing, check‑out, and troubleshooting functions.
• Perform operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment, and assist in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions.
• Assist in the design, construction, test, and check‑out of test equipment.
• Use manufacturing, test, development, or diagnostic equipment, including test programs, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and specialized test apparatus.

• Conduct preventive and reparative maintenance duties on production, manufacturing, and R&D equipment lines, maintaining fixtures, modules, and tooling.
• Maintain and write equipment binders (EB), maintenance documents, and perform IQs; help maintain replacement parts.
• Work with engineering and manufacturers to keep equipment, processes, and electronics safe and functional.
• Perform troubleshooting and repairs on equipment and automated systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Use hand and power tools, multimeters, amp meters, manufacturing test equipment, and calipers.
• Perform equipment activities—including assembly, testing, and completion of engineering studies and validations—with minimal supervision.
• Follow Dexcom’s Safety and Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) program.
• Work any shift as required.
• Assume other duties as assigned.

• Knowledge and experience with PLC and automated production/process equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, electro‑mechanical systems, resistance welders, and packaging equipment.
• Conduct preventive and reparative maintenance duties on production, manufacturing, and R&D equipment lines, maintaining fixtures, modules, and tooling.
• Perform troubleshooting and repairs on equipment and automated systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to perform equipment activities, in equipment development, directed by a project engineer with minimal supervision, including assembly and testing.

• Associate degree (A.A.) or technical school certificate preferred, but not required; equivalent combination of education and work experience acceptable.
• Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook, plus general computer skills.
• Equipment and maintenance experience, including equipment assembly and shop skills.
• Experience maintaining high‑volume manufacturing equipment in an FDA environment.

Typically requires a minimum of 2–4 years of related experience and a high‑school diploma, certificate, or equivalent.

Salary: $24.90 – $37.30.
