Assembler

The Assembler performs complex mechanical assembly of components and subassemblies in a modern, air-conditioned manufacturing facility. This role combines hands-on assembly work with coaching and mentoring of junior assemblers, while ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and lean manufacturing standards. The position operates on a first-shift schedule and plays a key role in improving processes, supporting cross-functional collaboration, and delivering high-quality products in a fast-growing, technology-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute complex assembly tasks, including advanced mechanical assembly of components and subassemblies according to engineering drawings, schematics, and build instructions.
  • Work on and along an assembly line, performing production and general assembly activities to meet daily and weekly output targets.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to assemble, fasten, and adjust components and subassemblies.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), prints, and schematics to ensure assemblies meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform final quality inspections and functional testing to verify that assembled products meet all company standards and customer requirements.
  • Coach and train lower-level assemblers, providing guidance on assembly techniques, safe work practices, and quality expectations.
  • Mentor junior team members to support their skill development and contribute to a strong, collaborative team culture.
  • Ensure that all assembly activities comply with safety rules, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Continuously monitor work areas for potential safety hazards and take appropriate action to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Review existing assembly processes regularly and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and support lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Follow lean manufacturing guidelines and actively contribute continuous improvement suggestions for process optimization.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other departments to resolve design or manufacturing issues that arise during assembly.
  • Communicate clearly with cross-functional teams to provide feedback on manufacturability, quality concerns, and process enhancements.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of parts and materials required for assembly, ensuring stock levels remain at optimal levels for uninterrupted production.
  • Report shortages or material issues promptly and coordinate with relevant teams to prevent delays in production.
  • Work under time constraints to meet production deadlines while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve assembly problems, including fit, alignment, or functional issues, using advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Document work as required, including completion of production records, quality checklists, and any process-related documentation.
  • Adhere to all workplace, physical, and ergonomic requirements, including safe lifting, manual handling, and proper use of tools and equipment.
  • Be available for occasional mandatory overtime, including some Fridays, when needed to meet production deadlines.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2–5 years of experience in assembly or manufacturing roles.
  • Proven experience working on an assembly line in a production or general manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical assembly skills, including advanced assembly of components and subassemblies.
  • Expertise in reading and interpreting complex technical documents, including engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Experience following prints, schematics, and build standard operating procedures (SOPs) to complete assemblies.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively in a manufacturing setting.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve assembly and production issues.
  • Strong knowledge of quality control processes and manufacturing best practices.
  • Ability to train, coach, and mentor junior team members and contribute to team development.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines without compromising quality.
