Qualifications- BS degree in social work or related field required.
- MSW strongly preferred
- Years of experience in a social service capacity may substitute for education in a 2:1 ratio
- Knowledge of local community resources
- Demonstrate a positive attitude & an ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds & circumstances
- Able to maintain a non‑judgmental demeanor, using a professional approach and maintaining boundaries with clients
- Able to handle crisis/emergency services for the homeless & working poor by utilizing crisis intervention, & conflict resolution skills
- A proven ability to maximize services with budgetary constraints
- Ability to quickly become proficient in Salvation Army approved Social Service programs, network requirements, and Link 2 Feed program from United Food Bank
- Ability to work efficiently on a diverse and cohesive team
- Computer literate & proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Publisher.
- Ability to work in an office setting & operate office equipment
- Must be able to type 50 wpm.
- Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license and clean MVR & pass The Salvation Army Fleet Safety e‑learning
- Employment contingent upon successful completion of a background check
- Operation of all Salvation Army Family Service Programs, including but not limited to:
- Food Bank Program
- Utility Assistance Program
- Rental Assistance Program
- Seasonal Hear Relief Program
- Pathway to Hope Program
- Administer Justice Program
- Seasonal Thanksgiving Assistance
- Seasonal Christmas Assistance
- Seasonal Back to School Program
- For each program, responsibilities include:
- Determining eligibility
- Maintaining records
- Monitoring costs
- Overseeing staff
- Securing and training volunteers, and recording statistics
- Inventory control
- Intake of clients
- Distribution of funds and goods
- Promotion of special events
- Case management
- Securing outside vendors to aid clients (e.g., motels, transportation companies, other providers)
- Office procedures and record keeping:
- Recording and filing electronically all casework documents for the Salvation Army program and the foodbank Link 2 Feed program
- Preparing and submitting daily, weekly and monthly reports and statistics
- Communicating supply needs of the Family Service Office to supervisor
- Community outreach and networking:
- Mesa CAN
- Administer Justice Project
- United Food Bank
- United Way
- City of Mesa
- Seasonal activities and holiday programs:
- Thanksgiving intake procedures
- Thanksgiving distribution procedures
- Christmas intake procedures
- Christmas distribution procedures
- Networking with other holiday providers in the community
- Helping with the angel tree program, especially with the production of angel tree tags
- Case management:
- Oversee day‑to‑day case management
- Maintain a client caseload
- Provide supervision and direction to social service staff
- Collaborate to provide service excellence to clients
- Pathway of Hope Program development and implementation:
- Develop, expand, and implement services for shelter clients within the Pathway of Hope program
- Participate in Pathway of Hope/Well Sky workshops and training events as requested or assigned
- Collaborate with the Territorial POH Project Manager and assist the DSSD with program‑specific POH implementation plans
- Compliance and additional duties:
- Observe and ensure all Salvation Army, city, county, state, and federal rules, regulations, and guidelines are followed
- Attend community meetings, public relation events, and seminars as directed
- Research, create, and propose alternative methodologies of service delivery to extend outreach of social service programs
- Develop and propose new programs to enhance current offerings of the Mesa Corps Social Service Department
