Position Summary
This Associate Director of Nursing for the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit manages a team of RNs and oversees clinical operations, staff development, quality improvement initiatives, and regulatory compliance while fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
Core Functions- Manages and facilitates patient‑centered nursing care for designated populations, serving as a real‑time clinical expert for unit staff and physicians for escalated problem‑solving.
- Leads change by developing, implementing and evaluating quality and process improvement initiatives in conjunction with the director, seeking input from staff and overseeing change implementation.
- Facilitates communication of system, regional, facility and department initiatives.
- Manages and develops the operational and capital budgets and associated resources.
- Supports staff leadership development through shared leadership models and career advancement opportunities.
- Responsible for selection, orientation, onboarding, retention, coaching, performance evaluations, corrective actions and development opportunities to create a culture of learning.
- Manages large single unit or multiple clinical units to ensure excellent patient care and actively develops leadership of entry‑level nurse managers.
- BSN or MSN required for all new hires; BSN required for internal transfers/promotions within 6 months.
- Current RN license in the state of practice.
- Board‑Certified BLS certification.
- Minimum two years of clinical management experience relevant to the patient population.
- Critical thinking, communication, influence, decision‑making, analytical, and flexibility skills to make optimal decisions based on multiple variables and desired outcomes.
- Ability to practice skills according to department and professional standards and quality requirements.
- For LTC settings: familiarity with Alzheimer’s disease and developmental disabilities.
- For Behavioral Health clinical settings:
Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and Criminal History Affidavit as required.
- Master’s degree in nursing.
- Additional related education and/or experience.
