As an Adult Acute Care – Renal Diabetic Registered Nurse, you will provide specialized care for adult patients with general medical diagnoses requiring renal and diabetic support. You will operate within a Level 1 Trauma designated hospital and work with a team of professionals committed to improving patient outcomes.

Schedule: Full time DAYS; 3 12’s 7:00AM-7:30PM

You will have the opportunity to use a self‑scheduling tool for shift and weekend coverage. The role includes an 18% night shift differential and a flat rate of $3/hour for weekend shift differential.

Position Summary

This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing practice standards. The nurse is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others under their direction, utilizing specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide, and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.

Functions
  • Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs. Review patient history, physical examinations, diagnostics, laboratory data, and communicate abnormal results to the appropriate providers.
  • Formulate a comprehensive plan of care, including discharge planning, based on assessment data and input from patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team. Ensure goals are realistic, measurable, and collaboratively developed.
  • Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of other health‑care team activities. Adhere to physician orders, nursing protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching, revising the plan of care as needed, and assessing progress toward goals and expected outcomes.
  • Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record accurately, timely, and in accordance with policy.
  • Provide evidence‑based care and may participate in research activities within clinical practice. Participate in unit or facility shared leadership and support the education and orientation of new personnel.
  • Contribute to society by improving patient outcomes through effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care, including participation in professional organizations.
  • In some roles, supervise staff and workflow within the department.
  • Minimum Qualifications

    Must possess a current, valid RN license in the state of practice or appropriate compact license. BLS certification is required. Additional certifications or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.

    Experience in the relevant clinical area is desired. Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area through annual validations. For acute‑care positions, a minimum of one year experience in an acute‑care hospital setting is required, with at least 12 months of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree preferred. Professional certification preferred. Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
