Position Summary
As a Registered Nurse in our Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Pediatric Surgery department, you will have the opportunity to care for pediatric patients spanning from neonate to adult with a diverse range of childhood cancer and blood disorders, as well as patients receiving care from our surgical specialties including orthopedics, urology, plastics, maxillofacial, neurosurgical, otolaryngology, and pediatric general surgery. Our unit consists of a 24‑bed active unit with a focus on a family‑centered care model and an interdisciplinary team approach.
Scheduleand Compensation
This is a full time day shift position from 7:00AM to 7:30PM.Weekend shift differential: $3/hour.

- Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs.
Review patient history and physical with patient/family and assure completion within an appropriate timeframe.
Review information obtained by other health‑care team members; review diagnostics and laboratory data and report abnormal results to the physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers.
Complete assessment and reassessment per patient need and policy. - Formulate a plan of care, including the discharge plan, using assessment data and input from patient, family and health team.
Initiate a plan of care based on patient‑specific needs; goals are realistic, measurable and developed with the patient/family.
Consider the physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age‑specific and educational needs.
Plan care in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members; review and revise the plan as patient needs evolve. - Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the health‑care team.
Provide care based on physician orders, nursing plan and relevant policies and standards.
Delegate appropriately and supervise other licensed nurses and personnel.
Promote continuity of care by accurately communicating patient status to caregivers. - Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise the plan of care as needed.
Collaborate with team members to assess progress toward goals and desired outcomes; evaluate patient teaching effectiveness. - Document assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record.
Documentation is legible, timely and follows policy; reflect objective/subjective data, nursing interventions and patient response; note physician orders accurately. - Provide care based on best evidence; may participate in research activities.
Participate in unit or facility shared leadership.
Interact and participate in education, role development and orientation of personnel, patients, students, families and visitors.
Promote and support growth of others via precepting and mentoring when appropriate. - Contribute to society through activities leading to excellent patient outcomes via timely, effective, efficient, equitable and safe care.
Participate in improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes; join professional organizations. - In some roles, supervise staff and department workflow.
- Interact with all levels of staff in various departments, physicians, patients, families and external contacts (e.g., other health‑care institutions, community providers and agencies).Communicate with other health‑care providers to report or clarify information; work with clergy for spiritual support; synthesize and prioritize data from multiple sources for patient and family response to changes in health status.
Provide direction and supervision to licensed and non‑licensed personnel in activities necessary to deliver quality care and services.
