Registered Nurse RN Periop PreOp PACU

Position Summary

This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and standards of professional nursing practice. The RN is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others under their direction and uses specialized knowledge and judgment to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.

• Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family ensuring completion within appropriate timeframe and reviews diagnostics and laboratory data, reporting abnormal results to appropriate caregivers.
• Formulates a plan of care, including discharge plan, utilizing assessment data and input from the patient, family and health team. Sets realistic, measurable goals in collaboration with patient/family and considers cultural, psychosocial and age‑specific needs.
• Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the health care team. Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care in compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
• Evaluates the patient’s and family’s response to care and teaching, revising the plan of care as needed. Evaluates patient progress toward goals and collaboration with the health care team.
• Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record. Documentation is legible, timely, and reflects objective/subjective data, nursing interventions and outcomes.
• Provides evidence‑based care and may participate in research activities and unit/shared leadership. Engages in education, role development, orientation of personnel and patients, including mentoring.
• Contributes to society through activities that improve patient outcomes and participates in professional organizations.
• May supervise staff and workflow of the department in some roles.
• Interacts with staff from all levels across departments, physicians, patients, families and external contacts, including clergy for spiritual support.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current, valid RN license (or temporary/interim/compact license) in the state of practice.
• BLS certification required.
• Experience in the clinical area for which applying is desired; must have worked in an acute‑care setting within the past 12 months as a RN.
• For Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions, minimum of one year of experience in an acute‑care hospital setting.
• For home‑health positions, must possess a valid driver’s license and active auto‑insurance.
• Behavioral health positions in Arizona may require an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and Arizona Criminal History Affidavit per department.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Professional certification preferred.
• Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Full‑time day shift 8:00a.m.–6:30p.m. with call and holiday requirements. Weekend rotations may be required. Flat rate $3/hr weekend shift differential and $5/hr on‑call shift differential.
