Responsibilities
- Possess the knowledge of how to collect health data systematically and prioritize it based on the patient’s immediate condition or needs, involving the family.
- Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses and use the nursing diagnosis to develop, implement, evaluate, and revise an appropriate, family‑centered, evidence‑based patient plan of care.
- Identify expected outcomes individualized to the patient and their specific health problems.
- Develop and implement individualized plans of care, ensuring continuity of care and family orientation.
- Initiate treatments, medications, emergency and resuscitative measures based on standing orders, policies, and procedures.
- Provide nursing care that addresses the physical, emotional, spiritual, and social‑cultural needs of patients and families using a family‑centered approach.
- Evaluate patient progress toward attainment of outcomes and document observations, interventions, therapeutic measures, and monitoring data.
- Continuously evaluate the quality and effectiveness of the care plan, ensuring cost‑effective high‑quality care.
- Assess and maintain professional nursing practice standards, including statutes, regulations, and system policies.
- Integrate ethical principles into all aspects of practice and enhance knowledge of culture and diversity needs for specific populations.
- Collaborate with peers and other health‑care providers through role‑modeling, peer relationships, and participation in preceptor and mentor programs.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care delivery.
- Develop and evaluate evidence‑based standards of care for patients, facilitating the adoption of practice changes and the use of systematic research to improve outcomes.
- Consider factors related to safety, effectiveness, and cost when planning and delivering patient care, utilizing resources effectively and efficiently.
- If holding a Diploma or ADN, complete a BSN within 60 months of hire or have 5+ years of RN experience (direct or indirect patient care) at hire (Required).
- Associate or Diploma in Nursing – staff with direct stroke patient responsibility must meet stroke‑specific education requirements prior to start (Required).
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Preferred.
- At least 10 months in a med‑surg or acute specialty setting (Required).
- Minimum 1 year RN experience for all float positions (Required).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – Certification in BLS training course C and unit‑specific certification as required by specialty area DOP (Required).
- Registered Nurse (RN) – State or Compact State licensure as a registered nurse in Arizona, required upon hire.
- National certification for unit‑specific patient population – Preferred.
