Join our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at Banner Desert Medical Center and be part of our amazing team of professionals. Our state‑of‑the‑art Level1 Trauma Facility and CVICU specialize in high‑level care for patients with complex cardiovascular diseases. As a CVICU Registered Nurse, you will care for patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting, valve replacements, valve repairs, arch repairs, thoracotomies, decortications, abdominal aortic aneurysm repairs, carotid endarterectomies, and vascular bypass within our 7‑bed unit. You will also acquire advanced skills such as initial and intermediate continuous renal replacement therapy, intra‑aortic balloon pump device therapy, Impella device support therapy, and removal of arterial sheaths.
We currently offer full‑time day (7:00AM–7:30PM) and night (7:00PM–7:30AM) shifts, working three 12‑hour shifts per week. You will have the opportunity to use our self‑scheduling tool for shift and weekend coverage.
Compensation- 18% night shift differential and a flat rate of $3/hour weekend shift differential.
- Day Shift: $15,000 sign‑on bonus for RNs with 1+ years of CVICU experience; 2‑year commitment required.
- Night Shift: $20,000 sign‑on bonus for RNs with 1+ years of CVICU experience; 2‑year commitment required.
This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care in accordance with organizational policies and professional standards.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
- Formulate individualized plans of care, including discharge plans, based on assessment data, patient and family input, and the interdisciplinary health team.
- Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the healthcare team; provide care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care while ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate patient and family response to care and education, revising the plan of care as needed.
- Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record with legible, timely entries reflecting objective/subjective data, interventions, and patient responses.
- Participate in unit or facility shared leadership and contribute to nursing quality improvement initiatives; engage in professional development and mentoring.
- Collaborate with diverse healthcare providers and external contacts, including clergy, to provide comprehensive care.
- Current, valid RN license in the state of practice, or a temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure.
- BLS certification.
- At least 12 months of acute‑care RN experience within the past 12 months; one year of experience in an acute‑care hospital setting is required for Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions.
- Ability to operate a personal vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license (required for Home Health positions). Auto insurance coverage must be maintained.
- Required Arizona clearance cards for behavioral health roles and a signed Arizona Criminal History Affidavit for all Banner employees in Arizona.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Professional certification in critical care or related area.
- Additional education or experience related to the specialty area.
