Availability: 12‑hour shifts, between 5:30 am and 10:00 pm, Monday‑Friday

Banner Staffing Services (BSS) offers registry/per‑diem opportunities within Banner Health. This role is a Pre/Post RN responsible for preparing and recovering anesthesia patients in our Cardiovascular Outpatient Services (CVOPS).

Position Summary

This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing standards. The RN is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others under their direction. Specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills are used to assess data and plan appropriate care for patients across all ages.

Core Functions
  • Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history and physical examinations with patient/family, ensures completion within appropriate time frames, and interprets diagnostics and laboratory data, reporting abnormal results to physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers.
  • Formulates a comprehensive plan of care, including the discharge plan, utilizing assessment data and patient, family, and health team input. Initiates care plans based on patient‑specific needs and medical directives; goals are realistic, measurable, and co‑developed with patient/family.
  • Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health care team. Provides care in compliance with policies, standards, and regulatory agency requirements, and delegates appropriately while providing nursing supervision.
  • Evaluates patients’ and families’ responses to care and education, revising the plan of care as needed. Assesses patient progress toward goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with the health care team.
  • Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record. Documentation is legible, timely, and in accordance with policy, reflecting objective/subjective data, nursing interventions, and patient response to treatment.
  • Provides evidence‑based care and may participate in research activities within clinical practice. Participates in unit or facility shared leadership, and mentors and precepts new staff when appropriate.
  • Contributes to society by achieving excellence in patient outcomes and improving national nursing quality indicators. Participates in professional organizations and community outreach activities.
  • Supervises staff and workflow in some roles, ensuring effective coordination across departments.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Current, valid RN license in state of practice or temporary/interim RN license; BLS certification required.
    • Minimum of one year experience in an acute care or procedural RN setting, including anesthesia recovery within the past 12 months.
    • Completed clinical performance competencies appropriate to the specialty area, validated annually.
    • For home health or certain behavioral health positions: valid driver’s license and active auto insurance; fingerprint clearance card and criminal history affidavit as required by Arizona state law.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field.
    • Professional certification in a relevant specialty.
    • Additional related education and/or experience.
