Position Summary

Applied RN in the M/S-5 Center-Hosp department with 100 bed capacity across 4 units. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting nursing care for medical-surgical patients. Oversees delegation to PCAs and LPNs as needed.

Responsibilities

Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs; review history, diagnostics and lab data; report abnormal results.

Develop and revise individualized plan of care, including goals; coordinate with multidisciplinary team.

Implement plan through direct care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the health-care team.

Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise plan accordingly.

Document assessments, plans, interventions and outcomes legibly and in a timely manner.

Provide evidence-based care; participate in unit leadership, education and precepting.

Contribute to nursing quality improvement activities; engage in professional organizations.

Supervise staff and workflow of the department, as applicable.

Interact with all levels of staff, patients, families, external contacts and clergy to provide comprehensive care.

Minimum Qualifications

Current valid RN license in state of practice (or temporary/interim/licensure).
BLS certification.
Experience in an acute care hospital setting within the past 12 months.
Ability to delegate tasks to PCAs and LPNs.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
Professional certification in nursing.
