Job Overview

Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse – Night Shift at Banner Gateway Medical Center in Gilbert, Arizona. The role provides supportive Level II care for women experiencing childbirth, with approximately 320 deliveries per month in a Magnet‑designated facility.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs; review history, diagnostics, and laboratory data.
  • Formulate individualized plan of care, including discharge plan; set realistic, measurable goals in collaboration with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision; provide nursing supervision to licensed nurses and other personnel.
  • Promote continuity of care by communicating patient status accurately to other caregivers.
  • Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise plan of care as needed to achieve goals.
  • Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record; ensure legible, timely documentation per policy.
  • Provide care based on best evidence; participate in research, unit and facility shared leadership, and education of staff and patients.
  • Contribute to patient safety and quality improvement; participate in professional organizations and national quality initiatives.
  • Supervise staff workflow when required and interact with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external partners.
  • Qualifications
    • Current, valid RN license in Arizona (or temporary/interim/compact license).
    • BLS certification required.
    • At least 12 months of recent experience as an RN in an acute care/obstetrics setting; must have worked in an acute care setting within the past 12 months.

    • Required background and fingerprint clearance per Arizona regulations for behavioral health positions where applicable.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
    • Professional certification (e.g., CNL, CRN, or APSNR).
    • Experience with electronic medical records and advanced patient monitoring.
    Benefits & Compensation
