Job Overview

Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse – Night Shift at Banner Gateway Medical Center in Gilbert, Arizona. The role provides supportive Level II care for women experiencing childbirth, with approximately 320 deliveries per month in a Magnet‑designated facility.

Responsibilities

Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs; review history, diagnostics, and laboratory data.

Formulate individualized plan of care, including discharge plan; set realistic, measurable goals in collaboration with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.

Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision; provide nursing supervision to licensed nurses and other personnel.

Promote continuity of care by communicating patient status accurately to other caregivers.

Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise plan of care as needed to achieve goals.

Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record; ensure legible, timely documentation per policy.

Provide care based on best evidence; participate in research, unit and facility shared leadership, and education of staff and patients.

Contribute to patient safety and quality improvement; participate in professional organizations and national quality initiatives.

Supervise staff workflow when required and interact with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external partners.

Qualifications

Current, valid RN license in Arizona (or temporary/interim/compact license).
BLS certification required.
At least 12 months of recent experience as an RN in an acute care/obstetrics setting; must have worked in an acute care setting within the past 12 months.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Professional certification (e.g., CNL, CRN, or APSNR).
Experience with electronic medical records and advanced patient monitoring.
