Position Summary

Phoenix Children s is seeking a Clinical Supervisor to oversee operations for our East Valley and Cadence Urgent Care locations. This leader will supervise a team of approximately 100 employees, including Registered Nurses (RNs), Medical Assistants (MAs), and Patient Care Technicians (PCTs).

The Clinical Supervisor will be one of two supervisors reporting directly to the Urgent Care Manager. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of nursing leadership or supervisory experience. Pediatric experience is preferred, and the selected candidate must obtain their Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) certification within one year of hire.

In addition to providing day-to-day operational leadership, this role will support key clinical initiatives, including:

  • Quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Medication management
  • Omnicell oversight and optimization
  • Staff development and operational excellence

Schedule:

  • Four 10- hour shifts per week (Monday–Friday)
  • Standard hours are 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM
  • Flexibility to leave at 7:00 PM one day each week
  • Must be available to provide both day and evening shift coverage based on operational needs

Call Requirements:

  • Rotating weekend on-call coverage (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) to support the Lead Nurse approximately every other weekend
  • On weekends when not assigned to call, the supervisor will enjoy a three-day weekend (Friday–Sunday)

The Clinical Supervisor coordinates shift operational flow in conjunction with organizational and departmental strategic goals, objectives, and standards and is the hospital’s clinical representative/resource for patients, families, and the healthcare team, at both the unit and organization levels. This position provides clinical leadership of patient care services and directs supervision of nursing and support staff to ensure consistent provision of developmentally appropriate quality patient care in accordance with all applicable federal, regulatory, professional standards and requirements.

Provides clinical leadership with accountability in promoting quality patient care and an engaging work environment, during assigned shift.

Position Duties
  • Coordinates/leads daily clinical operational activities of the unit and organization by ensuring that quality family centered care is delivered in an efficient work environment.
  • 1. Manages patient throughput – balances unit patient care activities while overseeing the delivery of patient care, coordinating admissions, discharges, transfers, and rounding daily on patients and families.
  • 2. Oversees staffing processes – coordinates assignments using established staffing levels that match individualized patient needs with staff competencies, and staff skill mix through ongoing assessment of patient and unit needs.
  • 3. Monitors unit environment – ensures that staff has the supplies, equipment, information, and resources needed to provide quality patient care in a safe work environment.
  • 4. Staffs, schedules, and appropriately uses nursing and support staff.
  • 5. Documentation – updates scheduling, occurrence reports, patient/family concerns, and quality indicators in the real time environment maximizing resolution prior to the end of the shift.
  • 6. Provides a report to the oncoming Clinical Supervisor or designee including the status of patient throughput, staffing processes, unit environment, schedules, occurrence reports, patient/family concerns, and quality indicators.
  • Collaborates with manager to lead, create, and maintain an environment that advocates for staff and promotes individual/team engagement through clinical/administrative expertise and professional leadership.
