The Veterinary Assistant is a key member of the hospital team who supports the veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients and associates while maintaining the continuity of quality veterinary care.

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in all care activities.
• Help maintain flow of patients through the facility.
• Communicate effectively with the veterinarian, vet techs and clients.
• Carry out or set up procedures that do not require vet tech or veterinarian assistance.
• Adhere to hospital standards to keep pets safe and treatment areas, exam rooms and labs clean and organized.
• Educate clients about wellness plans and the importance of preventive care.
• Mentor other members of the hospital team.

• Preferred:
  Certificate of completion from a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be able to perform all required skills of a NAVTA‑approved program at a level that aids in the efficiency of the practice.

• Certificate from a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Experience performing veterinary assistant duties at a level that enhances practice efficiency.
