Key Responsibilities- Greets customers promptly (within 30 seconds) and answers the telephone within 3 rings in a friendly, courteous manner.
- Explains all required paperwork, tests, products and services to patients.
- Reviews prescriptions and patient information carefully, identifies special needs, and consults with the Optician, Managing Doctor or Retail Management when necessary.
- Displays patience and courtesy to indecisive or difficult customers and patients.
- Performs work accurately and thoroughly despite time pressure and high customer volume.
- Resolves unsatisfied customers quickly.
- Demonstrates knowledge of appointment‑booking, scheduling procedures and computer operation.
- Manages and files all patient records in an organized and efficient manner in accordance with HIPAA.
- Places contact‑lens orders, processes shipments and submits invoices for payment.
- Operates the POS system to input customer/patient and prescription information with accuracy.
- Collects proper payment and retains correct change for various transaction types following company security procedures.
- Explains “One‑Hour” processing and expected delivery times to customers.
- Maintains the appearance of the store and ensures visual displays follow company guidelines.
- Ensures a safe working environment for all associates and patients.
- Responds quickly to changes in store promotions with appropriate staff communications, graphics and point‑of‑purchase materials.
- Demonstrates product knowledge and accurately describes features and benefits of lenses and frames.
- Assists customers in selecting frames and lenses that best suit their vision, lifestyle and budget.
- Performs all pre‑examination testing with accuracy and explains measurements to patients.
- Provides coaching and guidance to patients on contact‑lens care and handling.
- Maintains and disinfects contact‑lens inventory and provides clinical support to the Optometrist as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Strong customer‑service skills (internal and external).
- Knowledge of current fashion trends.
- Strong communicator and listener.
- Problem‑solving ability.
- Familiarity with cash register, computers and calculators.
- Organization skills.
- Sales skills.
- Strong basic math skills.
- Knowledge of office and store merchandise.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in customer service, retail and/or optical.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Compensation includes an hourly wage determined by geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements.
