Job Description
Octopos is a fast-growing point-of-sale SaaS platform built specifically for independent grocery stores, liquor stores, and specialty retail. We're based in Gilbert, Arizona and serve 100+ locations across the Southwest. Unlike generic POS systems, Octopos is purpose-built for the real challenges independent retailers face — from inventory management and SMS marketing to inventory and 24/7 support.
We're expanding our sales team and looking for a driven, people-first Field Sales Representative to help us grow our customer base across the Phoenix metro area.
This is a field-first, high-activity sales role. You will be on the road every day visiting independent grocery stores, liquor stores, convenience stores, and specialty retailers across the Phoenix metro. You won't be sending cold emails from a desk — you'll be walking in, meeting owners face to face, building relationships, and closing deals.
Think of the point of sale sales model — that's the energy and approach we're looking for. If you've done that work and want a better product to sell with higher commissions, this is your role.
What You'll Do- Plan and execute daily routes visiting 15–20 independent retail locations per day across Phoenix metro
- Introduce Octopos to store owners and managers, qualify their needs, and present tailored demos on the spot or by appointment
- Build a pipeline of warm prospects through consistent follow-up and relationship building
- Close 2–4 new accounts per month after your first 60 days
- Ask every satisfied customer for referrals and introductions to other store owners
- Log all activity daily in our CRM — visits, conversations, follow-ups, and pipeline updates
- Collaborate with leadership to refine the pitch based on real objections you encounter in the field
- Represent Octopos professionally at local trade events and industry meetups when relevant
- Base salary: $38,000–$45,000 depending on experience
- Commission: $400–$600 per closed account
- Accelerator bonus for exceeding monthly quota
- OTE: $70,000–$90,000 for a rep hitting target

- Proven experience in field sales, direct sales, solar sales or merchant sales — you're comfortable walking into a business cold and asking for the owner
- Thick skin and high resilience — you can handle 15 no's before getting a yes and come back tomorrow ready to do it again
- Strong people skills — you can build genuine rapport quickly with busy small business owners
- Self-motivated and disciplined — you manage your own route, your own time, and your own pipeline without being micromanaged
- Reliable transportation and valid Arizona driver's license
- Basic CRM discipline — you log your activity consistently
- Background in retail, grocery, liquor, or convenience store operations — you know what it's like behind the counter
- Experience selling payment processing, POS systems, or SaaS to small businesses
- Spanish language skills — a significant portion of our target market is Spanish-speaking
- Existing relationships with independent retailers in the Phoenix metro area
- Month 1:
You're hitting 15–20 visits per day consistently, logging everything in CRM, and coming back with real objections and learnings. You have your first conversations and at least 1–2 interested prospects. - Month 2:
You have an active pipeline of 8–12 warm prospects, have booked multiple demos, and are close to your first close. - Month 3:
You've closed 2–4 accounts. You know the pitch cold, handle objections confidently, and are building momentum. This is when commission starts making a real difference in your paycheck.
