Data Center Physical Security Specialist, AMER-SW Data Center Security

Job :

We are looking for a Data Center Security Specialist to join our expanding Data Center Operations team. Our ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, innovative, and professional. They have a passion for delighting customers, teamwork, and continuous improvement. The role encompasses oversight of contract employee deliverables and collaboration with Data Center Managers to devise security strategies, achieve financial targets, and improve overall operational security within our Data Centers.

The specialist will report to the Area Security Manager responsible for their Data Center Campus.

Job Responsibilities
  • Interface with and mobilize vendors involved in system repairs and new security construction
  • Coordinate the activities of a professional contract guard force
  • Oversee vendor deliverables, track service delivery, and request corrective actions as needed
  • Foster relationships to educate data center stakeholders on false alarm reductions
  • Extract metrics and analyze data to observe trends and drive improvements
  • Verify that data center security programs meet defined global security standards
  • Develop strategies for improving electronic surveillance and access controls
  • Draft reports and prepare presentations on the status of physical security operations
  • Collaborate with managers to write and implement security processes and procedures
  • Advocate for customers by identifying security‑related opportunities and crafting innovative solutions that maintain uncompromising security standards
  • Travel between local sites as needed, up to 50 % of the workweek
  • Track service delivery against established SLAs and, when necessary, escalates corrective actions to senior team members
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and walkthroughs to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with AWS security standards and policies
  • Review and approve operational work activities that potentially affect physical security
  • Support vendors in the absence of SOPs or in situations that require escalation
  • Collaborate with data center operations, colocation providers, and partner teams to accomplish operational consistency
A Day in the Life

As a Data Center Security Specialist, your days vary but always start with ensuring our customers’ data is safe. You review overnight security activity, triage operational tickets, and check in with the contract guard force. A typical day might include site walkthroughs to inspect access control points, cameras, and perimeter security; coordinating vendor repairs; mapping alarm data for trends; and meeting with operations to align on upcoming construction projects.

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience with various access/intrusion control systems in a control room environment
