General Laborers perform a variety of physical tasks to include general labor and using power tools and/or hand tools as defined by each job/project. Experience in the following areas is preferred:
Crack Seal, Sealcoat, Chip Seal, Slurry Seal, Striping (Phoenix, AZ).

• Perform duties with Sunland s Core Values at the forefront.
• Work quickly, productively and safely to meet production goals as directed by Foreman, Superintendent or Production Manager.
• Follow direction regarding daily production schedule and activities.
• Be an advocate of safety and follow safety policies and procedures.
• Participate in job-site and safety meetings and all Company training.
• Coordinate with Foreman or Crew Leader to ensure the job-site is safe and traffic is controlled before work begins.
• Communicate effectively with Operators, truck drivers and fellow laborers.
• Inspect, clean and maintain equipment and machinery.
• Report problems or malfunctioning equipment to supervision or shop personnel.
• May set up and tear down equipment.
• Maintain a clean job site; secure tools and equipment at the end of each day.
• Handle and store materials in compliance with SDS sheets.
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors and vendors to complete the job.
• Serve as a front-line company representative and provide excellent service to customers and the public.
• Use rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other hand tools as needed.
• Perform other general laborer duties as needed.
• All other duties assigned. Duties may change at any time with or without notice.

• This position is safety-sensitive and subject to the company s drug and alcohol policy and OSHA regulations.
• All employees must wear appropriate PPE.
• Serve as a safety ambassador by complying with laws and company safety policy; identify and remedy hazards.

• Work at construction sites, communicate with others on site, read materials and signs, and maintain stamina while handling tools and equipment up to 50 pounds; climb stairs/ladders; bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift overhead, and navigate varied sites safely.
• Operate vehicles, trailers, machinery and equipment within safety guidelines.
• Outdoor work in all weather conditions, often for long periods.
• Exposure to chemicals, vapors, pollutants, dust, noise, and moving equipment.

• Full time position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required based on job duties.

• Must be willing to travel to any worksite, including staying away from home if necessary.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Six months to one year related experience preferred.
• Ability to speak, read and write English preferred.
• FMCSA English proficiency requirements for drivers under 49 CFR 391.11(b)(2) may apply, including ability to read and speak English and understand highway signs. Drivers will complete an English proficiency assessment.

• Current driver's license preferred.
• Clean motor-vehicle record if operating a company vehicle.
• Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and background check required.
