Komatsu is seeking an experienced Field Service Welder to support open-pit mining operations, with a strong focus on electric mining shovels and large gear case components
. In this role you'll do a lot of 3G and 4G welding, field machining and line boring at customer sites across AZ, NM, and CA.
This role is ideal for technicians who have worked on shovels or drills (preferred but not required),
millwright (ball mills, crushers) or gear case–focused technicians who enjoys hands‑on work in the field and wants to work on some of the largest equipment in the industry.

What You’ll Do- Perform field service maintenance and repairs on electric mining shovels
, primarily in open‑pit mine environments - Change and rebuild major shovel components
, including large gear cases - Diagnose mechanical issues and troubleshoot complex equipment systems
- Work closely with mine site teams to ensure equipment uptime and safe operation
- Travel extensively to mine sites (AZ mostly, some NM and CA)
Work hours are typically 12 hours daily, and a 6‑day‑on schedule in the field
Key Job Responsibilities- Primary focus on a safe work environment and employing safe work practices on a consistent basis.
- Lay out and perform complex repairs with a high level of accuracy and quality.
- Assess equipment repair needs and develop repair processes.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and perform minor and major repairs to all assigned equipment.
- 3+ years’ of welding experience
- Able to pass a 3G and 4G 4/16" wire test
- Willing to travel 6 days a week
- Ability to use all varieties of precision measuring instruments.
