The Avionics Technician II is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting the electrical systems of Company F-16 aircraft. This role is crucial for the safety, efficiency, and reliability of aircraft electrical instruments, contributing to safe and optimal flying for our aircrew. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform maintenance, repair, modification, and inspection of Company aircraft Avionics/Electric/ECS systems, as detailed in the Company maintenance operations manual.
- Assist in intermediate repairs and troubleshooting; may be asked to assist in advanced to extreme repairs for professional development.
- Apply comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting manufacturer and technical documentation such as military or FAA Technical Orders.
- Provide avionics support functions, such as repair, replacement, and rebuild of aircraft components, ensuring mission readiness.
- Perform complete repairs and calibrations, including but not limited to total disassembly, repair and re-assembly of equipment and components.
- Prioritize the completion of work in progress to meet deadlines and align with operational needs.
- Accountable for both executing and assessing the quality of work related to components, ensuring they are in satisfactory condition. Inspect, troubleshoot and diagnose systems failures.
- Remove, repair and replace functional components such as power generation and support systems wire harnesses and connectors, bleed air and air conditioning ducting, oxygen/environmental systems tubing and line replaceable units, Electric/ECS turbines, valves and generators.
- Provide training and technical guidance to other technicians.
- Ensure replacement parts are inspected, eligible, and properly certified prior to installation.
- Ensure removed parts are properly tagged and routed to quarantine.
- Carry out maintenance, repair, modification and inspection of the company aircraft as detailed in the company maintenance operations manual.
- Complete and certify reports for all work accomplished on the aircraft.
- Perform line and heavy maintenance activities in accordance with operational standards.
- Demonstrate adherence to OSHA and OH&S requirements, wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as appropriate and properly maintained tools. Report hazards or potential safety risks to a supervisor immediately.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must possess a working knowledge of electronic and mechanical systems and components on the F-16 aircraft.
- Must be able to perform ground handling, minor maintenance, and servicing.
- Proven track record of success working on complex assignments requiring considerable judgment, initiative, and technical/specialized knowledge.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while fostering a positive attitude.
- Must have strong problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in the English language with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must demonstrate safe and healthy workplace practices.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must be able to travel within the US and internationally.
- Must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities of an Avionics Technician II in daily work performance.
- Must be able to work in various weather environments and conditions.
- Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) and not be barred from any installation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- USAF 5 level or equivalent with progressive and documented experience.
- FAA Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) license/certification preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who hold this certification or able to obtain within 6 months of hire.
