their tThe Laborer position is responsible for cleaning and preparing jobsites for the work.
- The Laborer will load and unload materials, if required, dig holes and trenches, mix and pour concrete, backfill holes, trench es and perform other jobsite duties as directed by the site Leadman or Foreman.
Position Requi rements
• Be able to work overtime and be available for emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a wek
• Basic ability to use small tools, hand tools, shovels, sharp shooters, picks, jack hammers, wacker/tampers, etc.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly without assistance but must be able to take and pass a physical proving the 50 lb. lift abilty.
• Must be able to attend mandatory company meetings and training classes during work or sometimes after work or on weekends if required.
• May be required to assist with hook up of a trailer, loading equipment and properly tie down equipment, inspections, and maintenance as needed.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of Laborer, the employee regularly works outside in weather conditions, including extreme heat in the Arizona summers.
The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet or hot conditions.
The employee occasionally works at heights (with proper protective equipment) and is occasionally exposed to risk of electric shock. The noise level in the work environment may be moderate to loud.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of Laborer, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and to reach with hands and arms. The Laborer is frequently required to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, balance, talk and hear. The Laborer is also required to drive, sit, climb, crawl and smell.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Dig holes and trenches per plans/instructions using manual means.
- Manually dig and form (as required) foundations and junction boxes (jboxes).
- Expose any conflicts with other underground utilities by hand digging.
- Operate jackhammers, earth tampers and concrete mixers.
- Mix and pour concrete.
- Operate air, electric and pneumatic tools.
- Assist with vacuum excavations, concrete removal, and drilling.
- Use air compressor as needed.
- Install conduit per plans/instructions.
- Install wire conductors per plans/instructions as necessary.
- Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
- Clean debris, trash and hazardous materials from construction sites.
- Erect temporary structures and concrete forms.
- Use hand tools to cut and shape material as per instructions.
- Place traffic signs to warn traffic of construction in process.
- Clean and maintain construction equipment appropriately.
- Load and unload equipment to/from trucks and trailers.
- Assist with traffic control efforts, including flagging, set up, and truck shadowing.
- Organizing/clean up as needed at company yard.
- Take photos of work and upload as required.
