OverviewThis recruitment will fill one (1) full-time position in the Arts and Culture Department and establishes a Citywide list for future vacancies in all assignment areas.
Responsibilities- Wash, fuel, load, and unload Department vehicles
- Transport apparatus for repair
- Sweep and mop floors; clean smoke and ash residue from walls and repaint as needed
- Run training-related errands
- Transport, assemble, disassemble, and reconfigure modular furniture; read plans and build modular work spaces
- Set up or take down a movable stage; hang drapes, flags, curtains, or similar objects
- Assist with maintaining fitness rooms and equipment
- Interact with guests
- Use appropriate safety equipment and follow safety and departmental procedures
- Perform related duties as required

Graduation from high school or GED. Some (6 months – 1 year) experience performing manual labor and/or maintenance tasks.
Special Requirements- Arts and Culture Assignment: Valid Class D Arizona Driver’s License by hire or promotion date;
City of Mesa Forklift Operator’s certification within six months. - Business Services Assignment: Valid Class D Arizona Driver’s License by hire or promotion date.
- Fire and Medical Assignment: Valid Class D Arizona Driver’s License by hire or promotion date;
Mesa Fire and Medical Department Driver Operator Certification within one year; qualification to wear a tight-fitting respirator by passing a medical evaluation test in accordance with CFR by hire or promotion date and maintain certification. - Solid Waste Assignment: Valid Class D Arizona Driver’s License by hire or promotion date; qualification to wear a tight-fitting respirator and maintain recertification;
City of Mesa Forklift Operator’s certification within six months; OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification within six months and maintain annual refresher training.
Experience in public contact work and/or customer service is preferred. Bilingual speaking skills (English/Spanish) are desirable.
