Team Lead, Builds Weekend

Position Summary

The Team Lead has general responsibility for coordinating and overseeing all operational activities assigned to them daily. Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, the Team Lead is responsible for oversight of associates dedicated to the warehousing, receiving, and shipping of products in their area, ensuring compliance with company service and cost objectives.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Training Responsibilities
  • Mentor and train new and existing associates in distribution activities to meet customer demands.
  • Train associates on current Standard Operating Procedures, including shipping, receiving, picking, and quality control.
  • Assist in forklift operation and certification for associates.
Shipping/Receiving Responsibilities
  • Oversee unloading of inbound shipments, stacking, picking, and staging outbound shipments in a productive manner.
  • Verify paperwork accuracy with drivers and ensure correct product counts.
  • Load orders efficiently according to correct doors and trailers.
  • Investigate and resolve shipping/receiving discrepancies.
Customer Service
  • Maintain a professional appearance and communication style.
  • Communicate with customers via phone, email, or in person as needed.
  • Prepare accurate activity reports for site management.
Quality Control Responsibilities
  • Use documentation to verify products and orders are received, shipped, and picked correctly.
  • Verify that products meet quality standards; report damages or discrepancies.
  • Participate in quality meetings.
Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance
  • Comply with ISO standards and safety protocols.
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness and security.
  • Follow all OSHA, MSDS, and company policies.
  • Participate in safety meetings.
Labor Management
  • Direct warehouse operations to meet objectives.
  • Assist associates with productivity sheets and payroll captures.
  • Assist in schedule planning and job assignment.
  • Ensure product handling follows quality procedures.
Responsibility and Authority
  • Participate in department meetings.
  • Identify and recommend solutions for non-conformities in product, process, and quality.
  • Report significant non-conformities to the Quality Department.
Equipment Operation
  • Operate sit‑down, stand‑up, reach truck, sweeper scrubber, scissor lift, cherry picker, aisle master, and pallet jack.
  • Report equipment problems and perform daily maintenance checks.
  • Maintain active forklift certification.
Maintenance
  • Assist with building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.
Other Duties
  • Perform clerical and administrative tasks such as answering phones, scheduling, and record keeping.
  • Work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Work overtime as directed by business needs.

Minimum

Required Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of experience in a logistics/distribution environment.
  • Must be able to operate MHE.
  • Tolerance for unregulated warehouse temperatures (mild to moderate).
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations
  • Completion of a forklift training program.
Computer Skills
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Proficiency in RF scanners.
  • Experience with WMS functions.
Language Skills
  • English – reading, writing, verbal.
Mathematical Skills
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency for inventory verification and product handling.
Other Qualifications
  • Strong attention to detail and timeliness.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Effective communication across all organizational levels.
  • Adaptability and resilience in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2–4 years of experience in a warehouse/logistics distribution setting.
  • 2–4 years of proven forklift experience.
  • Current or prior MHE certification.
Physical Demands
  • Occasional: Hand & finger manipulation, sitting, handling product and packaging materials.
  • Frequent: Bending.
  • Constant: Walking and standing.
  • Lift/Push/Pull: 21–50 pounds; includes reaching above shoulder, reaching outward, squatting, or kneeling.
