ASSA ABLOY is adding a Buyer to our team who will be supporting multiple locations across the US. This will be an on‑site role based out of our Service Center in Mesquite, Texas.
What would you do as our Buyer?The Buyer plays a key role in supporting procurement operations across multiple Service Center locations. This role focuses on managing indirect spend, coordinating day‑to‑day purchasing activities, and driving process and system improvements. As a cross‑regional resource, you’ll help ensure consistency and efficiency across sites while enabling the broader team to focus on strategic direct sourcing. This is a great opportunity to gain exposure to procurement operations and grow into expanded sourcing and category ownership.
Youwould also:
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships while monitoring performance and accountability.
- Support risk analysis and mitigation efforts with external suppliers.
- Analyze indirect spend for patterns and opportunities to drive improvement, e.g., through vendor consolidation, redundant SKU reduction, etc.
- Manage RFQs, issue purchase orders, and ensure timely material delivery through proactive follow‑up.
- Contribute to procurement system enhancements (e.g., JDE), helping identify inefficiencies and implement improved workflows.
- Support initiatives to reduce manual processes and improve data accuracy.
- Partner with internal teams to ensure indirect MRO items align with operational end‑user needs.
- Analyze supplier performance data to identify trends, performance gaps, and opportunities for operational improvement.
- Collaborate with other ASSA ABLOY entities to streamline processes and reduce redundancy.
- Resolve invoice discrepancies through root cause analysis and implement strategies to minimize errors.
- Identify and implement cost‑saving initiatives, tracking results and driving supplier accountability.
- Support reporting responsibilities and assist with other duties as needed.
- Continually promote a safe and harmonious working environment for all employees.
- Demonstrate strict adherence to the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct and ASSA ABLOY Health & Safety Policy.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of purchasing, buying, or procurement experience.
- Manufacturing or production environment experience is a plus.
- Proficient in ERP systems (e.g., Net Suite or JD Edwards preferred).
- Strong MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and advanced Excel (formulas, pivot tables, etc.)).
- Proven ability to build strong internal and external partnerships.
- Self‑starter with a track record of resourcefulness and initiative.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and negotiation abilities.
- Experience in cost analysis and executing strategic cost‑saving initiatives.
