Job Summary

To plan, develop, and implement an effective instructional program that maximizes student achievement through the best use of research findings, technology, community resources, and time.
Qualifications- Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree with appropriate state certification for subject and level assigned. - Experience:
None required beyond certification from an accredited teacher preparation program.
- Demonstrate a cognitive understanding of subject matter and pedagogical skills in teaching field.
- Possess excellent communication skills.
- Instruct students and manage behavior effectively.
- Exhibit excellent public relations and interpersonal skills.
- Understand change processes, organizational development, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills.
- Effective organizational and consensus building skills.
- Plan and implement short- and long-range instructional plans based on instructional strategies, curriculum, student needs, and community resources.
- Adapt instruction to diverse learning styles and cultural backgrounds.
- Develop a variety of instructional strategies, technologies, resources, and techniques for problem solving and critical thinking.
- Utilize multiple assessment methods to monitor progress, adapt instruction, and set goals.
- Effective communication techniques, including verbal, nonverbal, and media, sensitive to student differences and needs.
- Basic understanding of technology impact in curricular areas.
- Follow MISD policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Plan, organize, and provide appropriate learning experiences in assigned area(s).
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity, interests, and abilities.
- Guide learning toward district curriculum goals.
- Employ varied instructional techniques and media suitable for student needs and location.
- Assess students and provide progress reports and parent communication as needed.
- Identify special needs and seek assistance.
- Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula per IEP guidelines.
- Develop student behavior plan consistent with administrative policies.
- Maintain accurate records per law, policy, and regulation.
- Take precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
- Be available to students and parents daily.
- Plan and supervise assignments for aides, volunteers, and student teachers, and evaluate writtenly.
- Engage in ongoing professional growth per district requirements.
- Participate in evaluation process and contribute to agreement on evaluation results.
- Attend campus and district meetings and promote communication.
- Participate in school-sponsored activities as agreed by principal and faculty.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Aides, student teachers, student groups, etc., as assigned by administration.
Working Conditions- Mental Demands:
Decision making regarding student well-being, maintain emotional control under stress. - Physical demands: standing, walking, speaking for long periods; lifting or moving small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other equipment.
