Teacher Compensation Plan Shift Type: Full-Time Wage/Hour Status: Exempt Reports To: Principal

EMPLOYMENT BEGINS: As soon as possible

PRIMARY PURPOSE
  • To plan, develop, and implement an effective instructional program that maximizes student achievement using research findings, technology, and available resources.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree and appropriate state certification for the subject and level assigned.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
  • Cognitive understanding of the subject matter and pedagogical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage student behavior and instruction for diverse learning styles.
  • Knowledge of change processes, organizational development, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills.
  • Effective organizational and consensus‑building abilities.
  • Ability to develop short‑ and long‑range instructional plans based on effective strategies and student needs.
  • Competence in delivering culturally responsive instruction.
  • Proficiency in instructional strategies, technologies, and assessment techniques.
  • Basic understanding of the impact of technology in curricular areas.
  • Adherence to MISD policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE
  • None required beyond certification from an accredited teacher preparation program.
  • Alternative qualifications may be considered by administration.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Plan, organize, and provide appropriate learning experiences.
  • Create a conducive classroom environment.
  • Guide learning toward district curriculum goals.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media.
  • Assess student accomplishments; provide progress reports and communicate with parents.
  • Identify special needs and seek assistance when required.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula per IEP guidelines.
  • Develop student behavior plans per administrative policies.
  • Maintain accurate records per law, district policy, and regulations.
  • Protect students, equipment, and materials.
  • Ensure student and parent availability as needed.
  • Supervise teacher aides, volunteers, and student teachers; evaluate as required.
  • Engage in ongoing professional growth.
  • Participate in teacher evaluation process and collaborative decision‑making.
  • Attend campus and district meetings and required school‑sponsored activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervise aides, student teachers, and student groups as assigned by administration.
WORKING CONDITIONS

Mental Demands:
Communicating well, making decisions regarding students’ educational, physical, and emotional well‑being, and maintaining emotional control under stress.

  • Standing, walking, and verbalizing for long periods.
  • Lifting or moving small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
  • Frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
