Employment Begins: As soon as possible
Primary PurposeTo plan, develop, and implement an effective instructional program in a way that includes best use of research findings, time, space, available technology, financial and community resources, so that student achievement will be maximized.
Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree, with appropriate state certification for subject and level assigned.
- Demonstrate cognitive understanding of subject matter and pedagogical skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to instruct students and manage behavior.
- Excellent public relations and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of change process, organizational development, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills.
- High effective organizational and consensus building skills.
- Ability to develop and implement instructional plans based on strategies, student needs, performance, global society, community, curriculum.
- Understand various learning styles and deliver instruction appropriate to developmental needs.
- Understand cultural diversity and instruction suitable for diverse cultures, populations, learning styles, and background experiences.
- Develop a variety of instructional strategies, technologies, resources, and techniques for problem solving and critical thinking.
- Knowledge of assessment techniques; monitor progress, modify instruction, and set goals.
- Effective communication, including verbal, nonverbal, and media, sensitive to student differences.
- Basic understanding of the impact of technology in curricular areas.
- Follow all policies and procedures of the MISD.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- None required beyond certification from an accredited teacher preparation program.
- Other acceptable alternatives may be considered.
- Plan, organize, and provide appropriate learning experiences in assigned area(s).
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students’ maturity, interest, and abilities.
- Guide the learning process toward achievement of district curriculum goals.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with location and student group needs.
- Assess student accomplishments, provide progress reports, and communicate with parents as needed.
- Identify special needs of students and seek assistance as needed.
- Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula per IEP guidelines.
- Develop a student behavior plan consistent with policy.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records per law and policy.
- Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Be available to students daily and to parents by appointment.
- Plan and supervise assignments for aides, volunteers, student teachers, and evaluate as required.
- Maintain a professional growth program that meets district requirements and personal expectations.
- Participate in the teacher evaluation process and agree on results.
- Attend campus and district meetings to promote communication and decision‑making.
- Attend school‑sponsored activities such as student orientations, open house, and other events as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Aides, student teachers, student groups, etc., as assigned by the administration.
- Communicating well, making multiple decisions concerning student educational, physical, and emotional wellbeing, and maintaining emotional control under stress.
- Standing, walking, and speaking for long periods.
- Lifting or moving small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
- Frequent, prolonged, and irregular hours.
