Reports To: Principal

To provide instruction and assistance necessary to enable all children to achieve and function successfully in the least restrictive environment.

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Special Education Certificate

• Understanding of various disabilities and special education law
• Skills for remediation of various disabilities
• Excellent communication (verbal and written), public relations, and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of the policies and procedures of the MISD
• Knowledge of the change process, organizational development, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills

• None
• Alternatives as determined appropriate by administration

• Teach children with learning impairments to function in regular classroom with modifications
• Plan programs of study that meet individual needs, interests, and abilities of students
• Attend Admission Review and Dismissal (ARD) meetings
• Develop and update the individual education plan for students
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to formulate strategies, plan lessons, and evaluate progress
• Reveal confidential information only when disclosure serves professional purposes or is required by law
• Perform other School Health and Related Services (SHARS) duties as assigned
• Perform other duties as assigned
