Applications Project Engineer (Order Management & Production Coordination) Description
Our client in the data center cooling sector is looking for an Applications Project Engineer to join the team near Mesquite, TX. You’ll be the hub between sales, engineering, production, vendors, and customers – driving orders from quote to shipment to startup. Our client is looking for someone with at least three years of applications engineering or technical project/order fulfillment coordination within custom manufacturing or engineered-to-order environments.
To succeed, you bring crisp communication, schedule discipline, comfort translating specs into buildable requirements and enjoy being the central coordination hub across teams. This is a great opportunity to grow with a fast-scaling manufacturer in a high-demand market.
- Own tracking for all open orders, prototypes, and production builds
- Maintain schedules, ship dates, and startup/commissioning plans
- Coordinate internal handoffs across engineering, manufacturing, and service
- Surface dependencies, risks, and milestone status early and often
- Support sales in developing technical quotes, scopes, and clarifications on customer requirements
- Translate customer use cases into clear internal requirements
- Assist with system configurations and options to match application needs
- Review customer specs/drawings/BOMs for feasibility and alignment
- Follow up with vendors on pricing, lead times, and deliveries
- Prepare order summaries, schedules, and clarification docs
- Support factory acceptance tests, site readiness, and startup planning
- Organize project files, BOMs, schedules, and correspondence
- Improve order tracking and cross-functional communication
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required
- 3+ years of applications engineering or technical project coordination experience required
- Experience in made-to-order/engineered-to-order manufacturing/industrial environments required
- Ability to read drawings, specs, and BOMs required
- Strong organization and multitasking across parallel projects required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for regular customer interaction required
- Proficiency with ERP systems and MS Excel required
