As a Transportation Planner at Ashley, you'll be at the center of our supply chain operations — orchestrating freight flows, optimizing routes, and making strategic decisions that keep our network running smoothly and profitably. Your expertise will directly impact customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and cost savings across the business.
This isn't a desk job — it's a dynamic, fast-paced role where your decisions matter every day.
What You'll DoOrchestrate Freight Like a Pro Plan and coordinate inbound/outbound shipments within a 24–72 hour window, maximizing trailer utilization and ensuring on-time delivery across our national network.
Optimize for Efficiency & Cost Analyze lane performance, match freight demand with carrier capacity, and make data-driven decisions to accept, reroute, or decline freight based on service level and profitability.
Manage Trailer Assets Strategically Monitor trailer pools, reduce idle time, and improve asset turns at customer locations to boost network efficiency.
Collaborate Across the Business Partner with Sales, Customer Service, and Area Managers to align freight volumes with capacity commitments and proactively solve challenges before they impact service.
Respond to Real-Time Needs Secure additional capacity, adjust schedules on the fly, and leverage TMS tools to keep freight moving — even when plans change. Maintain Data Integrity Ensure accuracy in our transportation management system (TMS), validate billing details, and keep operations transparent and traceable.
What You Bring Transportation Background:
Experience in freight planning, carrier coordination, HOS regulations, or logistics operations (TMS/trailer pool management experience is a plus!) Analytical Mindset:

Comfortable with TMS platforms, load planning tools, and Microsoft Office Work Environment This role is based in an active manufacturing and distribution center with moderate to high noise levels, temperature variations, and material handling equipment in operation. You may be on your feet for extended periods and will need to wear PPE (safety glasses, steel-toed boots). The environment is fast-paced, safety-focused, and operates on various shift schedules to support 24/7 operations.
Compensation & Schedule Salary: $65,000 – $70,000
