Position: Game Nerdz Assistant Store Manager - Mesquite, TX

Game Nerdz is a retailer of tabletop games, accessories, and FUN and we are looking to add to our team-oriented family! The ideal candidate for the role of an Assistant Store Manager would be someone who can lead by example to achieve store objectives in regards to sales targets, team development, and customer service.

Position Responsibilities
  • The Assistant Store Manager reports directly to the Store Manager.
  • Analyze current and future store sales trends, proactively identifying business opportunities to improve sales metrics.
  • Develop a successful team through recruitment, coaching, retention, and motivation.
  • Responsible for an outstanding customer service experience by product and brand knowledge to provide the highest level of care to customers.
  • Maintain an impactful store presentation that correlates to Game Nerdz standards and guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the store at all times (bathrooms, storage room, cash wrap, office, etc.).
  • Manage cash administration, oversee the receiving of new shipment, control all returns, damages and refunds for consistency and compliance.
  • Maintain all policies and procedures that are in place for proper banking, deposit logs, and cash handling with the leadership team.
  • Oversee loss prevention, shrink goals, monitor store inventories and ensure highest level of accuracy.
  • Monitor each month’s general supplies stock levels throughout the store.
  • Accountable for all safety and state/federal/company compliance within the store.
  • Ensure that all team members treat one another and our customers with courtesy and respect.
  • Promote gaming events and player experience in store and on social media platforms.
  • Monitor the arrival, organization, and distribution of in-store event prizes and promotional materials.
  • Maintain any social media the store may have access to by ensuring all rules and guidelines are followed.
  • Ensure compliance with all Game Nerdz policies and procedures.
  • Respond to customer concerns and complaints including on social media.

Qualifications & Experience
  • 2+ years leading retail/hospitality store environments.
  • Demonstrated track record of improving sales figures and KPI achievements.
  • Retail know-how with hands-on experience managing all aspects of a retail store.
  • A strong understanding of retail profit measures and the ability to exceed sales and expense goals.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
  • Refined verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical, attention to detail, and exceptional follow-up skills.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • De-escalation skills.
  • Strong computer skills (Google Docs, Sheets, etc.).
Work Environment

  • Work is performed primarily onsite at the designated Game Nerdz store.
  • Game Nerdz has 3 retail locations, 1 HQ Office/Warehouse, and over 65 total employees located in Texas.
Work Hours
  • Various hours/days, including nights, weekends and holidays.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to kneel, reach, walk, push, pull and grasp.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to move arms, hands, and fingers.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for sustained periods of time.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment where applicable.
  • The ability to talk on the phone and use a computer for extended periods of time may be required.
Environmental Exposure
  • Subject to frequent interruptions.
  • May involve exposure to moderate to high noise levels from phones, TV’s, in store gameplay, and shoppers.
Job Type

Full-Time (32-40 hours).

Expected Hours

38 – 40 per week.
