Detention Sergeant
Salary: $29.41/hr.
To supervise, assign, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for providing services within the Police Department; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility. To participate in a variety of semi-skilled tasks involved in the processing of prisoners for detention in the municipal detention facility; to oversee the safety and well-being of all prisoners;
and to provide responsible administrative and technical support to the detention function in a stressful environment.
Detention Sergeant is a civilian position. It is subordinate in rank to all sworn supervisors and is responsible for the supervision of detention officers. General supervision is provided by a Police Lieutenant.
Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesJob Requirements
Education:
High School Diploma or GED.
Experience:
Two (2) years of experience in law enforcement, jail operations, corrections, or a related field. Prior supervisory experience is preferred. Licenses and Certificates:
Possession of a valid driver's license.

Dependents can be added for an additional fee. Basic Group Life Insurance protection is provided to eligible full-time employees in the amount of two times the annual salary as recorded at the beginning of each year. The following voluntary benefits are available to full-time employees:
