GARAGE DIESAL MECHANIC

The Garage Diesel Mechanicshallberesponsible  for,butnotlimitedto,the following:

Servicing and repairing diesel tractors, trailers, and refrigeration units. Will be doing a full line of service work on the above-mentioned equipment. Troubleshoot problems as reported. Conduct state approved inspections of equipment. Overhaul diesel engines. Test drive tractor-trailer units and trucks to ensure repair work is correct. Follow blueprint, wiring diagrams, and service manuals. Complete written work reports. Adhere to all safety programs and laws.

Willing to be trained in various mechanical skills and subject manners.

Required Technical

Skills:

• Basicmechanicalknowledge.
• Weldingandsolderingskills.
• Electrical-basicskillstroubleshootingelectricalproblemsandreadingwiring diagrams.
• Diesel Repair-basicworkingknowledgeand/orexperienceofdieselenginerepairandoverhaul.

Required

Soft Skills:

• Mustbeabletofollowbothverbalandwritteninstructions.
• Coachableandwillingto learn.
• Excellentverbalandwrittencommunicationskills.
• Abilitytoworkwithoutdirectsupervision.

Physical Requirements:

Mustbeabletoworkinbothveryhot(morethan
100degrees) andverycold(20degrees belowzero) andinaverywetandhumidenvironmentforextendedperiodsoftime.

Must beabletobend,crawl,climb,squat,andworkonitemsbothabovetheheadandatgroundlevelduringrepairandmaintenanceoperations.

Mustkeepworkareasafeandcleanand workinasafeandefficientmanner.

Education, Certifications and Experience

• Minimum Age:21,asper
  
  FederalD.O.T.regulations
• Class A Commercial Driver's License is a plus

The following is preferred:

• Abilitytoarcweldandsolder.

Other:

The Garage Diesel Mechanicisanhourlypositionandreportstothe Garage Manager .

Schedule is determined based on shift. Working evenings, early mornings, and holidays may be required.
