Seasonal PositionThis seasonal position requires staff to work from mid-May 2026 through mid-August 2026, which will include one week of training in May 2026.
Summer Camp/Camp CounselorsSummer Camp/Camp Counselors will work directly with children in our day camps, which include the following:
- KIDZ Kamp (traditional recreation center camps)
- Teen Camp
- Outdoor Adventure Camp
- Recreation Leaders organize and supervise general daily activities and attend weekly field trips. Some specialty camps focus on instructing campers in activities such as sport fundamentals, outdoor education, team building or community-based projects.
- Camp Counselors are responsible for ensuring camper well‑being, maintaining the counselor‑to‑camper ratio, enforcing camp rules. Maturity, positive attitude, responsibility, genuine enthusiasm, and the ability to interact well with children and young adults are important traits.
Assist and supervise the public with usage of various Parks and Recreation facilities. Lead participants in a variety of recreational activities; supervise the use of equipment and supplies; enforce rules and regulations of the Parks and Recreation Department; assist in organizing and implementing activities for the recreation program. Light cleaning, custodial duties as needed, and equipment set‑up. Staffing positions include Front Desk, Kids Care, Westlake Attendant, Reservation Attendant, and Concession Attendant at the Mesquite Girls Softball Complex.

SUPERVISIONGeneral supervision is provided by a Recreation Supervisor or Recreation Specialist.
Responsibilities- Perform light custodial and cleaning of facilities as needed. Utilize small tools and equipment to clean and prepare tennis courts.
- Set up facilities for programs or reservations including but not limited to tables, chairs, volleyball, and basketball equipment.
- Work with internal and external customers to facilitate usage of facilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must be a minimum of 16 years of age at the time of hire.
- Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
- No experience required; however, experience in customer service or leading recreation programs is preferred.
- Obtain First Aid and CPR certifications within 90 days of employment.
- Seasonal position requires staff to work from mid-May 2026 through mid-August 2026.
- Program hours are 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.;
Monday – Friday. - Summer Camp/Camp Counselor is a seasonal position and hours are often irregular.
- Hours range from 10–28 hours per week.
