EMPLOYMENT DATE TO BE DETERMINED
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
  • To provide safe transportation for students by driving in compliance with traffic regulations over specified routes according to schedule so students may enjoy the fullest possible advantages from the district's curriculum and extra-curricular programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Valid Texas Driver License (Class

    C)
  • Must pass DOT Drug/Alcohol screening and DOT physical.
  • Possess and maintain proper bus driving certification or obtain within 6 months of employment.
  • Acceptable driving record
Special Knowledge/

Skills:
  • Ability to operate an SUV / Small bus of 14 passengers or less.
  • Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Maintain safety precautions when students are boarding and departing the vehicle.
  • Maintain discipline and report student discipline problems to the appropriate administrator.
  • Follow the assigned route and adhere to established schedules.
  • Transport only authorized students.
  • Make neat, legible, and accurate reports as required.
  • Report all accidents, vehicle damage, and student injuries, and complete required reports.
  • Abide by school district policies, and state and federal laws that relate to student transportation.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with campus and office staff, parents, and students.
  • Must be flexible.
  • Complete in-service and safety training as required by the district.
  • Check for mechanical defects before and after each operation of the vehicle and notify the supervisor of needed repairs.
  • Refueling as needed
  • Maintain safety equipment such as first aid kits and fire equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Maintain emotional control in stressful situations.
  • Reading and comprehending instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Physical demands/environmental factors:
  • Continuous sitting, reaching, and repetitive hand and arm motions.
  • Carrying up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Operating a motor vehicle.
  • Moderate exposure to extreme temperatures (hot).
  • Exposure to vehicle fumes.
