To assist the Transportation Director and Assistant Director with establishing and coordinating the assignment, scheduling and routing of all transportation vehicles; maintain a variety of department records; perform a wide variety of specialized and analytical duties related to the safe and efficient operation of a comprehensive school bus operation.
QualificationsEducation/Certification:
High School graduate or equivalent with experience in public school transportation; CDL License required
Knowledge of principles, practices and methods of school bus transportation Rules and regulations applicable to the operation of school buses and transporting students and methods of scheduling and dispatching a school transportation fleet; modern office methods and practices General public relations and telephone techniques Office organization Ability to assist in planning safe and efficient bus routes and schedules. Keep clear and accurate records Use good judgment Understand, interpret and apply rules and written directions.
Deal with students, parents and school district personnel with tact and poise
Prior experience in public school transportation
Major Responsibilities and DutiesDemonstrate a willingness to learn District software programs, such as Munis, Skyward, and Trans Finder Ability to plan, schedule and assign driver personnel for transportation vehicle operations Dispatch transportation vehicles for trips and other special events Update transportation databases Assists supervisor in resolving public concerns Input and update data and information in records and files with a high degree of accuracy Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Communicate with appropriate individuals regarding problems concerning transportation Have a working knowledge of basic computer skills - word processing, spreadsheets, and data bases Have outstanding organizational skills and excellent telephone etiquette Demonstrate a working knowledge of basic office equipment Effective communication, public relation, and interpersonal skills Have CDL license and be willing to drive buses when needed Other duties as assigned
