What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a highly motivated, knowledgeable, and versatile individual to join our engineering staff. This position will focus on supporting the services division on all aspects of projects within our testing, monitoring, and nondestructive evaluation. Tasks may include planning and implementing of various testing/monitoring programs on various structure types (dams, bridges, buildings, aerospace), field installation, field testing, field inspections, interpretation of data, code‑based calculations, and report writing.
This is an excellent opportunity to work in a growth‑oriented professional consulting group where you will work with and be mentored by senior technical staff.
- Develop instrumentation plans and testing documents to meet overall project requirements and scope
- Work directly with other staff engineers and project managers on project planning, preparation, and logistics
- Assist in making engineering decisions while on jobsites to ensure a safe and effective field deployment
- Update documents and photos upon project completion
- Assist analysis team with project deliverables through project reports and findings
- Draft reports to the quality of submitting the report to a client
- Consistently evaluate processes and procedures and recommend cost‑saving ideas
- Create client‑facing documentation, review project specifications, and contractual requirements
- Perform installation of instrumentation systems, new instruments, or replacement instruments under the guidance of the site supervisor
- Perform nondestructive testing and evaluation of multiple kinds on various bridges and dams
- Assist in routine and Nonredundant Steel Tension Member (NSTM) inspections
- Assist in troubleshooting and fix malfunctioning instruments and equipment
- Work in a variety of conditions including working at heights, overnight shifts, and in all types of weather
- Proficient experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, One Note, etc.
- Experience and understanding of AASHTO design codes, rating manuals, and other guidance
- Strong verbal and written communication skills that can address multiple audiences
- Strong knowledge and understanding of structural mechanics
- Strong knowledge and understanding of material mechanics
- Proficient using various hand and power tools
- Able to work schedules which may extend the typical workweek or workhours according to project specific requirements
- Excited by solving challenging problems and aren’t afraid to think outside the box
- A natural self‑starter who prides themselves on delivering quality products
- Flexible and have the ability to adapt to different work on a variety of projects
- Willing to learn on‑the‑job (OTJ) training, and office training
- Comfortable working at heights (200+ feet)
- Detail oriented and organized
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
- Engineer In Training (EIT) required or ability to obtain EIT within 6 months of hire
- SPRAT L1 Ropes Access or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Willingness to travel (50%+) including out‑of‑state and overnight to conduct field work
- Able to lift at least 50lbs and have stamina for moderate physical activity
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Drone piloting experience preferred
- OSHA 10 certification preferred
Starting Salary Range: $72,500 - $90,000 per year, dependent on experience
