Medical Billing Specialist

Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Medical Billing Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the billing process to ensure accurate and timely submission of claims, efficient collection processes, and resolution of billing issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately prepare and submit insurance claims to various insurance companies, electronic and paper, on a timely basis.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups with insurance companies to ensure claims are processed and paid.
  • Review and verify accuracy of billing and insurance information.
  • Resolve billing inquiries and discrepancies in a prompt and professional manner.
  • Post payments received from patients and insurance companies promptly.
  • Conduct monthly reviews of accounts receivable aging with necessary follow-up actions for unpaid claims.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and data integrity in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary documentation and clarification.
  • Generate monthly reports on the financial status of billing activities.
  • Assist in upgrades and implementation of billing software systems.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; an Associate's degree in medical billing or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Medical Billing Specialist or in a similar role within a healthcare environment.
  • Solid understanding of billing software programs and electronic medical records.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance guidelines, including HMO/PPO, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer requirements and systems.
  • Excellent mathematical and data entry skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
