School Nurse Substitutes - District Wide Qualifications
- Holds a license as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (M.G.L. c. 71, s. 53)
- Holds or is eligible for licensure in School Nursing by the Massachusetts Department of Education.
- Holds a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university (after 1993 DOE regulation change).
- Has a minimum of two years of supervised nursing experience in community health or child health prior to entry in school nursing practice.
- Maintains certification in cardio‑pulmonary resuscitation, AED and First Aid.
- Outstanding preparation and/or experience may be substituted for number 4.
To provide professional health services and coordinate the resources of the school, home and community as they pertain to the total health of students and staff.

Department Chairman and Building Principal. Performance is evaluated in accordance with the CBA Massachusetts Nurses Association Contract.
Terms of EmploymentThe District reserves the right to transfer all personnel among buildings on an as‑needed basis to serve the best interests of all students, provided this does not conflict with the Methuen Education Association (Unit
A) Contract.
