The Tenney Grammar School community is committed to the total development of our students so they each may achieve their academic, social and emotional potential. We recognize that a safe environment where respect and responsibility for ourselves and our school building is necessary to ensure human equality and academic excellence for all our students.
We believe that a positive educational experience is dependent on continued collaboration between home and school. As such, we envision that our community of students, parents and staff will work together as partners to communicate our common goal of educational excellence and positive character development.
We realize that the education of all youngsters must be based on a carefully planned developmental curriculum that is aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. This will provide students with relevant learning and life experiences that encourage them to become life long-learners and productive members of our society. Students and parents will be provided with the guidelines for fair and equitable academic standards and expectations at all grade levels, preschool through eighth grade.
These standards and expectations will be met by providing students and teachers with an educationally sound and safe environment and the resources necessary to meet them. We will access and utilize community resources, partnerships with private industry and our state of the art technology to maximize and further enhance students’ educational careers.
We trust that everyone at the Tenney Grammar School will embrace and emulate mutual respect for all community members as part of their daily participation in this school community. Our school environment must inherently possess an understanding and celebration of diversity of race, culture and ethnicity within its student population. We are committed to fostering students’ awareness and pride in the personal abilities, talents and gifts of themselves and others.
It is our belief that accepting and understanding the uniqueness of others and ourselves will bring us closer toward a true celebration of our humanity. To this end, we must learn and utilize the skills necessary to peacefully resolve differences so that all community members are empowered to express their thoughts, feelings and beliefs in a safe and accepting environment.
Finally, we will strive to challenge our youngsters to make responsible decisions based on socially appropriate values. We expect that as our youngsters experiment with social and academic decisions they will develop and refine their individual characters to make them contributing and effective members in our society-at-large.
