Radio and TV Broadcasting Teacher

Salary: $60,253 - $113,226

Position Summary: To provide direct instruction to students in grades 9-12 in Digital Media and Video Production, meeting Methuen Public Schools high expectations for achievement, equal access to high levels of instruction, and the achievement of academic proficiency for all students.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Massachusetts teaching license in Digital Literacy and Computer Science, Visual Arts, Theater, Design and Visual Communications, and Radio and Television Broadcasting grades 9-12 with SEI Endorsement is required. Additional content area license is encouraged.

Training and

Experience:

At least a Bachelor’s Degree in the area of major study. Master’s degree preferred. Bilingual preferred - primary languages spoken in the community are English, Spanish, Arabic, and French.

Skills and Ability
  • Media communications experience in a studio highlighting all phases of video production (scripting, recording, editing, audio, studio lighting, directing and computer graphics).
  • Instruct students in the use of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Final Cut Pro and other video software.
  • Develop clear and concise instructional lesson plans and organize class time to provide a balanced program of preparation, instruction, and on-air time.
  • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior and create a safe, orderly, and effective learning environment during class time and on-air productions.
  • Supervise, monitor and assist students in after-hour productions when applicable.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely in oral and written form.
  • Use evidence-based research practices and data to guide increasing student achievement.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff and the community.
  • Work independently, prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Perform duties with awareness of district, state and federal laws and school policies.
  • Work with students of diverse backgrounds and needs in an equitable and inclusive manner.
  • Maintain appropriate confidential records.
  • React professionally and objectively to unpredictable situations.
  • Operate and/or acquire skills to operate a computer and related software including Google and instructional technology.
  • Demonstrate strong collaborative, teaching, coaching and leadership skills.
  • Possess strong organizational skills to balance a high-demand position.
  • Knowledge of specialized content area and related laws and procedures.
  • Plan and implement lessons based on district and school objectives and student needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Adheres to all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct. Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order.

Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aides and/or volunteers. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff and school committees. Participates in staff development programs.

A) Contract.
