Fitness Manager – Choice Fitness, Methuen, MA
As a Fitness Manager with Choice Fitness, you are a leader to your personal training staff. Your success is highly dependent upon the performance of your trainers and the achievement of the club. Since you are responsible for generating new personal training sales, you must be committed to the business and take great pride in helping our members achieve results.
Duties & Responsibilities Financial Performance & Sales- Accountable for the daily, monthly and yearly financial performance of the club's fitness services while driving sales and managing payroll.
- Oversees the Personal Training department to ensure that expectations are met.
- Partners closely with the General Manager and Membership department to ensure that initial Fitness Assessments are booked and value is built on tour.
- Provides coaching, mentorship, feedback, recognition and support to Personal Trainers to facilitate their success and skills development. Responsible for succession planning to retain and grow key talent.
- Participates in performance assessment and termination processes for Personal Trainers in partnership with the President of Operations.
- Establishes and develops a collaborative, results-focused Personal Training team; leads weekly meetings, team building, and leadership development activities; promotes member and team success stories.
- Ensures the Personal Training team is adequately staffed to meet daily, monthly, and yearly forecasts.
- Collaborates with the President of Operations to interview and hire qualified candidates.
- Develops a high‑performing team through coaching, teaching, and training.
- Guarantees proper onboarding and essential training tools for new employees.
- Provides ongoing training to the personal training staff.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- Coaches, teaches, and develops each personal trainer.
- Conducts weekly staff meetings to reinforce team building, education, and communication of expectations.
- Conducts performance reviews with the President of Operations.
- Responds quickly to member concerns or requests.
- A related university degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or Kinesiology, or equivalent experience is strongly preferred.
- More than two years of related sales experience.
- More than two years of experience in the fitness industry.
- More than two years of leadership and people‑management experience, including proven success in coaching and motivating teams and individuals to achieve goals across multiple locations.
- At least one year of personal training experience is required.
- Current certification in NASM, NSCA, ACE, or ACSM Personal Training is required. Additional health and nutrition certifications are an asset.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification, maintained through employment, is required.
- Ability to sustain a culture of service focused on hospitality, caring, welcoming, and fun.
- Passion for fitness and demonstrated knowledge of fitness equipment and wellness strategies.
- Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and relationship‑building skills.
