This is a temporary 40 hour a week position, with required weekend days.

THE POSITION:

We have an exciting opportunity at our Methuen Animal Care and Adoption Center for an Temporary
Animal Welfare Specialist
. Animal Welfare Specialists (AWS) are at the forefront of the MSPCA' smission, working directly with people and their pets to effect positive change in our community. Some job responsibilities include:

• Working hands-on with several species of animals, including companion, equine and farm animals, feeding, cleaning and disinfecting animal living spaces, providing enrichment activities, exercising, medication administration, etc.
• Facilitating adoptions by matchmaking animals with prospective adopters using a conversation-based approach with a goal of identifying the best possible outcome for the person and the animal.
• Assisting in the surrender of an animal in an empathetic and compassionate manner that is free from judgment.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

We are looking for applicants with at least one year of experience in a customer service/client care position. Previous work or volunteer experience with animals is a plus! Applicants should also demonstrate excellent judgment and interpersonal skills and be eager to work to support the human-animal bond.
