We are partnering with a leading medical technology organization developing innovative surgical navigation solutions that help improve surgical precision, patient outcomes, and clinician experience. They are seeking a Group Manager, Algorithms & Software to lead a multidisciplinary team of algorithm engineers and software developers focused on next‑generation medical devices. This role combines technical leadership, product innovation, and regulatory expertise to drive the development of advanced surgical navigation technologies in a fast‑paced and highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and mentor a high‑performing team of algorithm and software engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Define and execute the technical roadmap for surgical navigation algorithms and software platforms
- Drive the development of advanced algorithms for image registration, 3D reconstruction, tracking, and real‑time navigation applications
- Ensure robust software architecture and seamless integration with hardware and medical device systems
- Collaborate with clinical experts, product managers, and cross‑functional stakeholders to translate surgical workflow needs into innovative technical solutions
- Lead prototyping activities, feasibility studies, and technology evaluations for emerging navigation and visualization solutions
- Support product development activities from research and development through design transfer and production readiness
- Ensure compliance with medical device software and quality standards, including IEC 62304, ISO 14971, and cybersecurity requirements
- Maintain design control documentation, verification and validation records, and regulatory development processes
- Partner with global stakeholders to communicate technical progress, risks, priorities, and project status
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
- 8+ years of experience in software development and algorithm design, including at least 3 years in a technical leadership or management role
- Strong experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams in regulated medical device environments
- Expertise in image processing, image registration, tracking algorithms, and real‑time navigation systems
- Experience with robotic‑assisted surgery, surgical navigation systems, augmented reality, or related healthcare technologies
- Proficiency in C++, Python, and real‑time software development environments
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical device software development standards, including IEC 62304, ISO 14971, FDA regulations, and cybersecurity requirements
- Understanding of FDA 21 CFR Part 11, IEC 60601, HIPAA compliance, and quality management processes
- Strong understanding of clinical workflows and the needs of surgeons and healthcare providers
