QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education
- Valid Missouri license/certification in Special Education
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate
PURPOSE STATEMENT
The Special Education Process Coordinator supports the implementation and coordination of special education processes, procedures, and compliance requirements across the district. This position assists staff in maintaining compliance with district, state, and federal regulations while supporting effective educational programming and evidence-based practices for students receiving special education services. The Special Education Process Coordinator works collaboratively with staff, students, and families to support student growth, positive educational outcomes, and effective implementation of special education services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Special Education Process and Compliance Coordination
- Oversee and monitor the IEP process to ensure compliance with district, state, and federal special education regulations
- Manage and monitor IEP documentation and processes within our student system or other district systems
- Conduct periodic file reviews to monitor compliance and maintain accurate special education documentation
- Assist in managing timelines related to referrals, evaluations, eligibility determinations, IEP development, reevaluations, and transition plans
- Implement district policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Board policies, district procedures, and state and federal laws and guidance
- Serve as LEA representative at IEP meetings when significant program resources, services, or compliance concerns are anticipated
- Monitor special education files and records to ensure compliance with IDEA and Missouri special education requirements
- Remain current on special education laws, regulations, procedural safeguards, and best practices
- Assist teachers in identifying evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions to target student learning needs
- Support development of student goals and programming aligned with Missouri Learning Standards
- Administer and/or coordinate standardized assessments and individual academic assessments as applicable
- Interpret assessment results and assist with development of written reports synthesizing evaluation data and recommendations
- Participate in eligibility, evaluation, IEP, and transition meetings to support appropriate educational programming for students
- Promote positive relationships and collaboration with parents, staff, and outside agencies to support student success
Communication and Collaboration
- Collaborate with administrators, teachers, related service providers, and support staff regarding special education procedures and student programming
- Provide support and guidance to staff regarding compliance requirements, timelines, and documentation practices
- Prepare reports, correspondence, and other materials related to special education compliance and programming
- Attend school, district, and state professional development meetings and trainings as assigned
- Support a flexible educational environment favorable to learning, collaboration, and student growth
- Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential student records
- Participate in professional development and remain current on best practices in speech-language pathology
- Follow district policies, procedures, and professional standards
- Support district and building initiatives as assigned
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
