Responsibilities

The Income Audit Manager reports to the Director of Finance and Accounting and oversees the income audit function across multiple hotel properties – Fontainebleau Miami Beach and JW Marriott – ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant recording of all daily revenues, settlements, statistics, and related tax liabilities. This position directs the daily income audit process and leads the income audit team, partnering with Operations, Revenue Management, Tax, and Corporate Accounting to safeguard revenue integrity across the complex.

Key responsibilities include balancing all revenue streams to subsystems and the general ledger, validating third‑party revenue and commissions, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and ensuring compliance with applicable sales, use, occupancy, resort, and other local taxes.

Examples of Duties (includes but is not limited to the following):

  • Lead and supervise the complex income audit team, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance management, and ongoing professional development of income auditors.
  • Oversee the daily income audit process for all properties, ensuring all revenue, settlements, statistics, taxes, and adjustments from the prior business day are accurately captured, balanced, and posted to the general ledger in accordance with Corporate Master Accounting policy, USALI, and GAAP.
  • Balance and verify all revenue streams – Rooms, Food & Beverage, Banquets & Catering, Spa, Retail, Parking, Resort Fees, Cabanas, Entertainment, Nightlife, and other ancillary outlets – between the PMS, POS, and supporting subsystems, and reconcile to the general ledger and daily revenue reports.
  • Verify and balance third-party revenue and disbursements, including OTA reservations and commissions, group/wholesale contracts, gift card and voucher activity, leased outlets and tenant revenue, concessionaire arrangements, and management/franchise reporting; investigate and resolve discrepancies with operating departments and third parties.
  • Maintain working knowledge of and ensure compliance with all applicable state and local taxes.
  • Reconcile tax liability accounts monthly, compare balances and activity to the supporting tax returns filed for the period, document and resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely remittance in coordination with the Corporate Tax function.
  • Prepare and review monthly balance sheet account reconciliations for all revenue-related, settlement, clearing, and tax liability accounts across the complex, ensuring complete supporting detail, aging of reconciliation items, and appropriate preparer/reviewer sign‑off in accordance with the Master Accounting Policy.
  • Maintain, document, and continuously improve income audit standard operating procedures (SOPs), checklists, and internal controls; ensure consistency of process across both properties while addressing property‑specific operational differences.
  • Partner with Front Office, F&B, Spa, Retail, Banquets, Reservations, Revenue Management, Credit, and IT to identify, investigate, and remediate revenue leakage, posting errors, rate/tax configuration issues, and control gaps.
  • Prepare and distribute the Daily Revenue Report and supporting flash/statistic packages to property and corporate leadership; ensure data integrity and timely delivery.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Hospitality Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, required.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of progressive hotel accounting/income audit experience, multi‑property or complex experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a large, full‑service luxury hotel, resort, or convention property is preferred; familiarity with high-volume F&B, banquets, spa, retail, and nightlife/entertainment revenue is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Florida and Miami‑Dade County sales, use, and transient/occupancy tax requirements preferred.

Experience with Opera/OPERA Cloud, Micros/Simphony, Info genesis, Sun, Oracle, or comparable hospitality systems strongly preferred.
