Position SummaryThe Event Operations Supervisor reports directly to the Housekeeping Manager and is responsible for supervision and direction of events setup and housekeeping staff, including temporary labor employees, in duties of general building cleaning, as well as event room/hall setups and breakdowns as required for the Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC), campus, and associated exterior parcels (Pride Park, Collins Canal Park, Venu & Rum Room).
This role pays an hourly rate of $19.00-$21.15.

About The VenueThe award-winning Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC) welcomes meeting and event planners, exhibitors, and attendees to Miami Beach and Miami. Reimagined following a $640-million-dollar renovation, the MBCC provides a world-class, state-of-the-art event venue for exceptional conferences, conventions, trade shows, and meetings. The new 800-room Grand Hyatt Miami Beach is under development and slated to open in late 2027. The venue is LEED Silver certified and includes a Grand Ballroom, 500,000 square feet of flexible exhibition halls, 4 junior ballrooms, outdoor terraces & parks, and 84 breakout rooms.
MBCC is close to South Beach, Lincoln Road, Ocean Drive, and other Miami Beach cultural arts attractions, making it an ideal venue for events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and assist housekeeping workers and temporary labor workers in the general cleaning of the venue, MBCC campus, and its equipment/inventory.
- Supervise and assist setup workers and temporary labor workers in the setup of tables, chairs, risers, stages, and other equipment for meeting rooms, exhibition halls, pre-function/lobby, and MBCC campus spaces.
- Collaborate with the Event Operations Manager and the Assistant Event Operations Manager to develop daily work task sheets and ensure tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Work with public safety and venue operations to ensure energy conservation and safety programs are followed in daily operations.
- Train and effectively communicate with staff regarding responsibilities and expectations.
- Advise and provide recommendations on staff qualifications.
- Develop and maintain a service-oriented attitude with staff.
- Assist in adjusting floor plans with Event Managers, General Service Contractors, AV Partners, and Internal Teams.
- Understand, inspect, and maintain safety and protocol for surfaces (terrazzo, carpet, concrete, wood) within MBCC and campus.
- Understand and maintain safety protocol for all equipment during setup and breakdown.
- Inspect the overall venue and advise on damages to equipment or venue to appropriate departments.
- Ensure staff follow protocol, safety compliance, and SOPs to maintain equipment integrity and surface condition.
- Plan and execute daily production logistics from move-in to show days and move-out.
- Assist with employee training, scheduling, inventory controls, and external vendor relations.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments and clients.
- Read event resumes and venue drawings to set leased space.
- Draft daily post notes for the following shift to follow.
- Complete daily housekeeping/setup services logs for billable/nonbillable work and submit logs to the Assistant Event Operations Manager.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Supervises a group of full-time, part-time, and temporary labor workers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with OVG
360’s policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining in conjunction with Human Resources, and addressing complaints.
Education And Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience.
- Strong working knowledge of venue housekeeping standards and practices and public assembly venue setup requirements.
Skills And Abilities
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Ability to supervise a crew of custodial workers and motivate employees to maintain high morale.
- Ability to multitask by prioritizing tasks.
- Strong attention to detail to maintain the venue and campus as a first-class facility.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly desired.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects.
