Engineers perform routine and preventative maintenance to protect the assets of The Betsy and to keep the hotel running smoothly. They address wear and tear on facilities and ensure a safe, quality hotel experience, along with compliance with building, fire, health, and emergency repair requirements as needed.

• Periodically inspects, operates, or tests machinery, systems or equipment to ensure proper operation and diagnose any malfunction.
• Performs general maintenance duties such as cleaning, replacing AC filters, and changing light bulbs.
• Paints or repairs roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, or other building components.
• Performs basic electrical and plumbing work such as repairing or replacing fixtures, fixing leaks, and unclogging toilets.
• Provides basic groundskeeping services.
• Troubleshoots technical issues around the hotel (e.g., WiFi, cable, guest room appliances, AC, electronic keys).
• Repairs machines, equipment, or structures as needed.
• Maintains a complete, up-to-date record of work orders.
• Maintains the building exterior and curb appeal.
• Refurbishes furniture and fixtures within guest rooms and paints/finishes as needed.
• Responds promptly and courteously to guest questions, complaints, and requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.
• Follows all safety and security policies and procedures, including PPE use and OSHA standards.
• Performs any other job-related duties as assigned.

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• A technical degree or certification, or equivalent experience in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, or Construction.
• Hotel experience preferred.
• Must have the ability to: read, write, speak and understand English; follow instructions; multi-task; work independently and with others; operate basic software on computers and smart devices; identify and address details; perform physically demanding work including climbing, standing, and walking for extended periods, and routinely lifting 25 lbs to 75 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
